Janis Farmer

Job Development Assistant

Originally from London, England, I moved to Wisconsin with my husband and three children in 1986.  We gave up on all that snow in 1993 when we moved to California.

I left high school at age 16, which is very common in England.  Started out on some higher education in 1994 by taking classes at Las Positas Community College in Livermore and loved it.  Found out I was smarter than I thought, transferred to UC Berkeley in 1997, and finished up with an Honors B.A. in Mass Communication.   I placed in the top 10% of the University’s entire graduating class that year.

Earned a teaching degree in 2001 and taught mainly third graders in Pleasanton.  Moved to Capitola summer of 2005, and joined the Fast Track to Work office in August 2007.

In the past, I’ve been very active in my kids’ school organizations and a myriad of other volunteer opportunities.  Now I enjoy reading, knitting, sewing, cooking and have a rescued dog named Bella who loves me to bits.
