The Santa Cruz County Workforce Investment Board awarded Fast Track for “Providing Outstanding Service to Participants.” This award prompted proclamations from the City of Watsonville, the Mayor of Santa Cruz, and the Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors, as well as Certificates of Recognition from the California State Assembly and the United States Congress.
The Workforce Strategy Center commended Fast Track To Work for moving hundreds of welfare recipients into well paying jobs within 24 months, a timeframe that accommodates state and federal time-limits. The report found that community colleges offer the best route out of poverty.
Fast Track To Work was one of six programs in the nation commended for providing excellent access and retention services to students who are low-income working parents by The Manpower Demonstration Research Corporation in New York.
Dena Taylor, FTTW’s Program Manager, received the “Women Helping Women” Award from the Santa Cruz Soroptimists for her work at Cabrillo and in the community.
Catherine Lachance, FTTW Services Coordinator, received Cabrillo College’s Meritorious Award of Excellence for service to students and the community.
Alicia Hernandez, FTTW Program Specialist, received the Cabrillo College "Support Staff of the Month" award.
