About GO

MISSION STATEMENT

The purpose of the Grants Office (GO) is to increase state and federal funding for college projects that further the mission and strategic initiatives of Cabrillo College. Our grant staff work with college faculty, staff and administrators to research, develop, write and review proposals for government funding. The office seeks to engage and equip the college community with best practices in securing grant funds and efficiently managing grant-funded projects.

GO Services

The Grants Office seeks to provide the following services:

RESEARCH

Research appropriate grant opportunities and provide a clearinghouse of external funding opportunities through appropriate communication channel

PROPOSAL DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANCE

Coordinate preparation and submission of proposals for state and federal funding;

  • Work on building community partnerships in support of grant development
  • Helps ensure project proposal alignment with college priorities
  • Facilitate college/district grant approval and signature process
  • Provide guidance in terms of questions related to procedures of grant approval process

TRAINING

Arrange workshops/ training sessions and technical support in effective proposal development, grant review process & grant management.

TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE IN GRANTS MANAGEMENT

For new grant awards, will work with project directors and grant staff on grant orientation and various grant management activities. Support may include interpreting funding guidelines, researching rules and regulations and maintaining compliance, offering advice on communicating with a grant monitor, advice on resolving concerns/problems, and providing feedback on reports.

BUDGET DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANCE

Assist with the preparation of budgets and budget explanation for a grant proposal; for some grants, will provide fiscal support in the post-award management of a grant award.
