HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS - Making the Most out of High School

Wondering how you can maximize your time in high school? Keep reading ...

Can I get high school credit for a Cabrillo class?

Yes!   This is called Concurrent Enrollment, and you need to apply for admission to Cabrillo for each term, while attending high school. (Check with your counselor at the high school.)

You can take a science course that will satisfy the D Requirement for UC admission. (Click here for the list of Cabrillo Courses that meet this requirement).

You can take a math course - for questions about math placement, see Determing Math Placement at Cabrillo.pdf

You can take Foreign Language courses as well.  See Concurrent Enrollment for a list of the courses available and appropriate for high school students.

Can I get college credit for a class I take at the high school?

Yes again! These are called articulated courses and are classes that instructors at your school and Cabrillo instructors have linked.  You take the course at your high school and if eligible, can petition to Cabrillo for credit. See Currently Articulated Courses by high school.

How to get Cabrillo credit for an Articulated course:

    • Talk with your high school instructor - Is the course articulated? Have I met the eligibility requirements to receive college credit?
    • If the answers are "YES, Print and fill out the required documents below and submit to the Articulation Office at Cabrillo (address below).  We cannot award you credit unless we have your application on file.
      1. Application for Admission - or use Running Start Application (talk with your h.s. counselor)
      2. High School Release Form - must be signed by your parent, yourself and your h.s. administrator.
      3. High School Articulation Petition Form
      4. Transcript Request Form - if you are not planning on attending Cabrillo, you will want a Cabrillo transcript showing your credit to take to your other school.

If you are planning on attending Cabrillo College after graduation from high school, or have any questions about articulated credit, contact the Articulation Office directly.
