Taking Classes while still in High School

Many students jumpstart their college education by enrolling at Cabrillo College while they are still in High School. High school students may attend classes at Cabrillo on a limited basis, with the permission of their high school.  This is called Concurrent Enrollment.

How does Concurrent Enrollment work?

  • You can take an appropriate class that has available space (see below for Suggested Courses).
  • You can enroll in classes numbered 1-199. State law prohibits Cabrillo from offering Basic Skills classes (200 level classes) to high school students.
  • You need to submit the following forms to Cabrillo's Admissions & Records Dept.    Bldg. 100 EACH TERM (Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer) before you can register:
(Concurrently-enrolled High School students are considered new students each term, for purposes of registration - even if you have taken courses previously at Cabrillo. )
  • For some classes (like English or Math, or a Science class requiring Math) you have to take a placement test.  View the current Assessment Schedule and/or call the Assessment Office with questions at 479-6165 or 479-3516.
