MORE BUDGET
I hope you have read the latest summary from CPC and visit the web page http://www.cabrillo.cc.ca.us/INFORMATION/news/budget/ to learn more about the way the college is handling the reductions imposed upon us by the State. Instruction reduced by $1,023,305 of base and $578,483 of categorical funds through the CPC process. We also reduced by $940,000 in classes taught by adjunct faculty. In the fall, we will offer our students about 140 fewer classes, reduced hours of operation of services, and fewer resources for the classrooms and offices.

GRADUATION 2003: FACULTY PARTICIPATION
I hope you are planning to attend the Graduation Ceremonies. It is so important for students to see you there. Every year, we honor several students by telling their stories at the ceremony. Please peruse your memory and e-mail me by Friday, May 16th with students’ stories of success, perhaps a star graduate transferring to a prestigious institution, or one who has overcome challenges, struggles, tremendous barriers. Thank you in advance for your valued assistance, and your anticipation of this joyous ceremony.

If you have retained your regalia from previous years, you are all set. If you need new or replacement components, please contact Glenn in the bookstore at ext. 5018 before the ordering deadline of April 15, 2003. Do it now! The College covers the cost. Please take part in the ceremony. You will not regret it and your students will value your participation on June 6, 2003 at 5:00 p.m. in the Carl Conelly Stadium. As always, there will be a FACULTY RECEPTION sponsored by the Faculty Senate, prior to the graduation ceremony.

The Writing Center staff is pleased to announce that, for the remainder of this semester, they have restored limited drop-in tutoring services for all Cabrillo students working on writing assignments: Between the hours of 2-5 PM only, Monday through Thursday, any Cabrillo student may "drop in" for tutoring help at the Writing Center.

ESL students may continue to come into the ESL lab for tutoring ANY TIME during the hours of operation: Monday through Thursday 8 AM to 9 PM. Cabrillo Distance Education students may submit their papers to the Online Writing Lab via their web site at: http://www.cabrillo.cc.ca.us/divisions/english/writcenter/Online/mainowl.htm They ask that Distance Ed. instructors be selective and refer just those students who would most benefit from assistance.
