CABRILLO STUDENT & GRADUATE JOB FAIR 2003
Please encourage your students to plan ahead for the annual Cabrillo Student and Graduate Job Fair, which will be held in
the Student Center on Tuesday, May 13th, from 9am-1pm. Staff and Faculty are also welcome to attend.

These employers are currently hiring, and will often allow students to work part-time until they graduate. This is an excellent
opportunity for students to make contact with employers and to get pointers from human resource professionals on the best
ways for them to apply for jobs, both now and in the future. Thursday May 1st, 5:30 pm in Room 804-A. These workshops
are open to the public and free to everyone.

LEARNING DISABILITY TESTING
Deborah Shulman, coordinator of the Learning Skills Program, would like you to inform any students interested in
being tested for learning disabilities this semester to contact the Learning Skills Program Office at 479-6220.

DIVERSITY WORKSHOP
For those of you who have missed out on participating in one of the previous diversity workshops, there is another
workshop scheduled for 5/2/03, in the Horticulture Center, Room #5005, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. I attended one last week and was favorably impressed! This workshop is open to all staff, contract faculty and administrators. As with the previous workshops offered, snacks and refreshments will be available, but please make arrangements for your own lunch. STUDENT HEALTH SERVICES
Support Groups for Faculty and Staff are ongoing in Room 1040, (note Room Change, Library conference room) every
Wednesday from 12 noon till 1pm. Facilitated by Cathryn Clark, MFT. This is a great way to get help dealing with
budget cuts, staff transfers and reorganizations, the trauma of war, and the ongoing cumulative stress of life. Please call
Student Health Services at ext. 6435 for more information.

Sunday, May 11th - Mother's Day 9-3 on the Cabrillo Parking Structure. An eclectic STUDENT/COMMUNITY event
hosted by the COMMUNICATION CLUB and the LOOK a BOOK program. Featuring...Student Booths, Local Bands, Great
Food and so much more!

release time for employees interested in attending these events.

• Overcoming Anxiety Through Relaxation and Visualization, Tuesdays, 12:10 to 12:40 pm, Room 809, (May 6, 20, 27), Wednesdays, 4 - 5 p.m.,
  Room 809 , (May 14, 28). Cabrillo College Counselor Pattie Tomnitz will facilitate this series designed to reduce anxiety using visualization and relaxation techniques.
• PERS Workshop. May 13th, 2:30-4:30 pm, Sesnon House, Room 1804. A PERS representative will discuss benefits and answer your questions.
• Interviewing Skills (for Cabrillo community only). May 8th 5:30-7:00 pm Room 804-A. Interviews make you nervous? Preparation is the key. Lyn Hood will show you what you need to do to be successful in the interview. Counselors Jay Jackson and Shawn Ogimachi will be available from 6:30-7+pm to answer individual questions and concerns.

SPECIAL HONOR AT GRADUATION
Every year, we honor several students by telling their stories at the ceremony. Please peruse your memory and e-mail me by
Tuesday, May 21 at 5pm with students' stories of success. Perhaps a star graduate transferring to a prestigious institution, or
challenges overcome, pertinent student struggles, perseverance over tremendous barriers, or dreams surpassed. Thank you in
advance for your valued assistance, and your anticipation of this joyous ceremony.

FINALS WEEK
Just a reminder that as a faculty member, you are obligated to meet with your class at the scheduled time to administer a final exam,
return and review an exam, present projects, provide course content, etc. Please meet with your class during the appointed time.
