Instruction Note 5/08/03
2003-04 BUDGET
The resolution for classified position elimination or reduction was approved
by the Governing Board at the May 5th meeting. The procedure used for layoff
follows Education Code requirements and provisions of the collective bargaining
agreement between Cabrillo and SEIU. Initial notices of position elimination
or reduction were delivered to affected employees this week.
2004-05 BUDGET
In the event the 2004-05 budget is as devastating as the 2003-04 budget is expected
to be, we need to be prepared to take appropriate action. The Faculty Senate
and the Instruction Council used the month of April to discuss issues of program
reduction. At last Tuesday's meeting, the Faculty Senate unanimously approved
the program reduction procedure and criteria I am attaching to this document.
I want to thank the senators and member of the Instruction Council for the thoughtful
consideration they put into this unpleasant task. All involved hope we will
not have to implement the work.
