Hello and welcome back to the new academic year. Since my arrival, a mere 6 weeks ago, I have had the opportunity to meet many of you and I look forward to getting to know the rest of you each individually as well. At the division meetings on Thursday morning, I mentioned that I hope to get an invitation to the department meetings so that I can learn more about the different programs here at Cabrillo. Also, I’m sure we’ll have many opportunities to work together since we will soon launch into full accreditation mode. Michael Mangin, my accreditation co-chair and I have been meeting with the Director of Research, Jing Luan, to work out some strategies for tackling this beast known as accreditation. Hopefully, all of you have heard from your deans or managers about the importance of participating in the accreditation process and we are looking for volunteers. So please consider joining one of the Standard sections. More information will be coming your way from the section chairs, who will be actively recruiting.
Also, I hope each and every one of you finds time to seek out our new faculty, staff and administrators to give them the same warm welcome you have extended to me. Have a great semester.
Important Flex Information
Inadvertently, the sign-in sheets for All College Day were not available on Friday morning. Starting Monday, August 29, they will be placed in the all of the division offices. Faculty members who attended All College Day should sign them to receive proper flex time credit.
"Textbooks on Reserve" at the Cabrillo Library
Please inform students that if the cost of a required textbook is $50.00 or more, a single copy of that textbook is now on Reserve at the Cabrillo Library for shared use. This innovative textbook loan program has been funded by a generous grant from the Cabrillo College Student Senate. The goal of the program is to guarantee that at least one copy of the most expensive required textbooks is on reserve at the library. They can be checked out for two hour loan periods.
