Instruction Note 11/07/03
Academic Priorities
The vitality of the college is dependent upon its instructional program. The
quality of the college's instructional program is contingent upon the availability
of highly competent and visionary contract faculty who are adept at curriculum
development and instructional delivery. We are in the midst of the Academic
Position Priority Process which will yield a list of faculty positions to be
hired for fall of 2004. I have attached the numerically ranked list of tenure
track academic positions. Faculty Senate and Instructional Council will review
the positions on 11/18. I will take the final list to the board on December
1 for funding approval.
Interim Vice President for
Instruction
I am pleased to announce that we have completed the internal search for the
interim Vice Presendent for Instruction. I am recommending to the Board that
Jack Turner, Communication Studies faculty member, be appointed to that position.
Jack served the college for over 30 years, including 10 years as Dean of Instruction.
In that position he worked with half of the instructional programs and services
of the college. He helped reduce and rebuild the college in the budget turmoils
of the 80s and 90s. On two separate ocassions during that 10 year period, Jack
served as interin vice president. Join me in welcoming him to this office.
