Tenure Track Faculty Hires
The college is in the throes of replacing about 10% of our tenured
faculty. I want to be sure that all interested adjunct faculty know they can
obtain job announcements and applications on line. Those adjunct faculty desiring
a paper copy of either the announcement or the application can obtain them by
calling or visiting the Human Resources Office. They will be available by December
1.
Faculty Recruitment
Topsy Smalley created a web site to assist faculty recruitment efforts. Included
are links to resources that identify which universities grant the highest number
of Masters and Doctorates to minorities, and how many in each discipline. Faculty
can send postition announcements to department chairs, etc., at targeted programs.
The Web page also includes links to Web sites used by minority academic job
hunters. Go to www.topsy.org/recruitment.html
The Web page will be a work in progress, and suggestions and questions are welcome.
Thanks Topsy!
Class Readers
Class materials to be sold through the bookstore for Wintersession
and Spring Semester are due to Duplications by December 1. Be sure to get them
in on time.
Withdrawal
Reports
This is a reminder to submit your Last Withdrawal Reports for Full Term Courses
by Monday, November 22, 2004. Look for a memorandum from Admissions and Records
that was placed in your mailboxes. It gives detailed instructions on how to
complete the Last Withdrawal Report and guidelines as to which students should
be dropped. If you have any questions, please contact Paula Macias at the Grade
Desk (x6242). The Grade Rosters will be distributed to you on December 10. In
order to meet all of the reporting and transcripts requests, A and R would like
those rosters back within 48 hours of the exam.
Final
Exam Schedule
The final exam schedule was revised at the beginning of the semester. Once again
I am attaching a copy to avoid any confusion at the end of the semester. If
you have any questions, please give Dale Attias a call on extension 5679.

Open
Door
Although we're proud of the educational tradition of opening doors to all students
who come our way, remember that shutting those doors after class serves an economic
purpose as well, especially during the winter months. Please close your classroom
door after class has emptied and you leave. Far too many empty classrooms have
doors open, lights on and costly heat pouring out into the cold afternoon or
evening air.
Spring
Schedule
Please announce to your student that the Spring 2005 Schedule of Classes
is available NOW on-line at www.cabrillo.edu
The printed version of the Schedule of Classes will be on campus December
6.Registration will begin for continuing students on December 8.
Second
Harvest of Santa Cruz and San Benito Counties
The Food Bank is trying to collect 1 million pounds of nutritional food to feed
our neighbors in need this holiday season. With the tremendous support of the
community, the Food Bank is planning to serve 2.3 million meals this holiday
season. Cabrillo students are working hard to collect food and money for this
purpose. I hope that each of us can do our part to support our community with
gifts of food or money. You will see the familiar food barrels soon. A $1 donation
is equivalent to 3 pounds of food and can be submitted to the Student Affairs
Office
