Instruction Notes 11/21/03
Schedule of Classes on the
Internet
Although the paper version of the SP 04 Schedule of Classes will not be on campus
until Dec. 8, the schedule is now online for student use. We can see from the
number of "hits" to the college's search engine that students have
been keenly interested in seeing the new schedule. John Mauceri, the college
web master, has made some important improvements to this schedule
on-line. Besides being the Internet version of the college's paper schedule,
this version has links to Web Advisor (which gives them up-to-the-minute changes
and availability to courses), a link to department home pages, a link to the
department's instructor and staff "Salsa" pages, and a link to the
catalog pages for that department. This "one stop shop" for schedule
information should be very helpful for our students. The SP 04 schedule can
be accessed directly from www.cabrillo.edu.

Wait Lists - New Process
This is a reminder of the new wait list process we will be testing during Spring
2004 registration. The following information will be printed in the Schedule
of Classes:
If the preferred section of a course is full at the time you register, you may choose another section or keep trying to see if space opens up. This process will continue until Monday, January 26, 2004, when waiting lists will be available for all classes that are filled at that time. You may then add your name, without charge, to the waiting list. Once you are on the waiting list, you must attend the first class meeting of the section to be considered for admittance to the class. If you are admitted to the class, you must register with an add slip and complete the registration process by the registration deadline.
Wait listed students in full-term Distance Education courses must contact their instructor during the first week of the semester to maintain their wait list status. This contact may be via email, written note, telephone call or presence at the first class orientation session. At the end of this first week, if no contact has been made, students may be dropped from the active wait list, and those on the active wait list or who have contacted the instructor may be added in their place. Deadlines for short-term courses are different for each course; ask your instructor or Admissions and Records at the Aptos or the Watsonville Center.
Cultural Council Payroll
Deductions
Lynda Watson ask that I give you the following message:
Now is a great time to support the arts in Santa Cruz County by making a monthly
contribution by way of a payroll deduction to the Cultural Council. Every gift
helps maintain its valuable programs. The Cultural Council provides grants to
over 65 cultural and arts organizations and individuals, which, in turn, provide
artistically excellent and culturally diverse entertainment and activities for
thousands of members of our community.
You can now help the Cultural Council by designating any amount to be withdrawn from your paycheck each month as a payroll deduction. Even the smallest amount helps!! We are sincerely grateful to those of you who already give, and urge those of you who don't to join them.
Payroll deduction forms will be left in the division offices. When they are filled out and returned to the offices, they will be picked up and taken to the payroll office.
