Finals Week Responsibility
Consider this a reminder that instructors are required to be present and have a "final exercise" at the time specified in the final exam schedule or the agreed upon change. Some give tests, some review exams, but all must be there.

New Winter Session Class: Winning New Jobs
Do your students need job skills? Fast Track To Work is offering a 2-week “Winning New Jobs” Wintersession class that is open to all students. They’ll learn job search techniques, resume writing and interview skills, and how to rise above the competition. This 2-unit class runs January 3-14. It’s CG190D, Section 41038

Cash for Books
If the Bookstore has your requisition for your Spring textbooks, and you are using the same book, your students will receive 50% of the new book price at our end of term buy back. Not using the same book? They will still pay your students the highest national wholesale price for their used books. Haven't turned in your Spring requisition? There is still time to turn in your requisition to insure that your students get top dollar for their used books next week and your spring students have the option of lower priced used books next semester.

Admissions & Records Roster Information
*Fall 2004 Grade rosters* will be distributed in faculty mailboxes on Friday, December 10. Final grades are due in the Admissions & Records Office, Building 100, by Monday, December 20. Your prompt return of grade rosters is appreciated, as many students are waiting for grades to meet transfer deadlines for transcripts.
*Wintersession Rosters* will be distributed in faculty mailboxes on December 22.

News About Online Applications
Last semester several students were blocked from registration because they had applied online but had not submitted their signature to Admissions and Records. This semester students who have not yet turned in their signature pages will no longer be blocked from registering. A&R will continue to emphasize to students the importance of returning the signature pages, since it is a requirement of the Chancellor's Office to keep them on file. However, students will be able to register even if they haven't sent in their signature page, and A&R will work with Marketing to contact the students who still need to return them.

Enrollment Growth
Our enrollment this semester is just about even with last semester even though we had hoped and planned for some growth. You probably noticed that prior to the beginning of the fall semester, we augmented our advertizing, reached out to new areas of our community, mailed more copies of the Schedule of Classes, etc. We think those actions prevented a decline in enrollment typically associated with an increase in fees. We hope that our new strategies like the one described in the above paragraph, plus telephoning students who have applied but not registered and the recent open house at the Watsonville Center, will increase enrollment in 2005. If you have any thoughts about additional strategies, please talk to me or to Cathy Summa about them.
