Division Reorganization

• The English, Business, Foreign Language Division, aka WEB Division, has a new name - Business, English, and
  Language Arts or BELA.
• The VAPA division met on Friday and selected a new name - Visual, Applied, and Performing Arts or VAPA.
  
• The four division coordinators were selected from very rich pools of qualified candidates. In every case the
  decisions were difficult and unanimous.

Sad News

I was notified this week that Neil Fashbaugh died in Canada last Saturday. His wife Joyce would like the Cabrillo
community to know about his passing. Neil taught Psychology here from 1965 to 1986. I also learned of the passing
of Dr. George Bartlet, the college's first Dental Hygiene director.

Fall Flex 2002

Due to state budget reductions the Fall Flex Calendar will not be printed and distributed as in years past. It is

Graduation

I hope you are planning to attend the Graduation Ceremonies on Friday, May 31st, 2002. It is so important for
students to see you there. Every year, we honor several students by telling their stories at the ceremony. Please
peruse your memory and email me by Friday, May 17th with students’ stories of success, perhaps a star graduate
transferring to a prestigious institution, or one who has overcome challenges, struggles, tremendous barriers. Thank
you in advance for your valued assistance, and your anticipation of this joyous ceremony.

Extended Library Hours

Please remind your students of the extended library hours for students to study for final exams. They are from
Saturday May 11th through Sunday May 26th.
    Monday-Thursday OPEN UNTIL 10:00 pm
    Saturday & Sunday OPEN FROM 11 am to 5 pm
    (Friday unchanged)
