Book Discussion
Allan Lönnberg will lead a book discussion at Noon on October 16th in Room 111 as a part of a statewide reading
initiative in honor of John Steinbeck's centennial co-sponsored by the California State Library and the California
Center for the Book. Modeled on the successful "One City, One Book" program, people across the state are
encouraged to read and discuss John Steinbeck's epic novel, The Grapes of Wrath, and to attend this Cabrillo College
Library sponsored discussion.


Educators In Industry
On Tuesday, August 27, over eighty-five Cabrillo faculty and staff joined one of eight teams visiting various agencies, industries and businesses, including the City of Santa Cruz, Seaside Company and the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, Emily's Good Things to Eat, Donnelly Fine Chocolates, Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, El Pajaro Community Development Corporation, Quail Mountain Herbs, MBARI, Actor's Theater, and Kuumbwa Jazz Center. Team leaders were Clayta Ross, Vicki Shook, Diane Putnam, Stephany Buswell, Chris Madsen, Laura Grinder, Arturo Cantu, Kathy Navarez, Karen Groppi, Christa Fink, and Helene Jara. Comments from faculty who participated include: "Your academic degree can lead to surprising careers!", "I will now assign students activities in class to problem solve real workplace situations", "Experiencing and learning about different industries with other faculty yield opportunities for us to share ideas that benefit our students", "Our community offers a wide range of internship resources and career opportunities for students". Educators In Industry organizers are seeking faculty who are willing to be team leaders for Spring, 2003. Is there a business or industry that you would like to visit? The Counseling Division and the Transfer Center are offering a series of Transfer Essay Workshops. Counselor will
