About the Community Cabrillo College is located in Aptos; a small coastal community situated near the center of Santa Cruz County. From Santa Cruz, it is only an hour's drive to San Jose, Monterey or Carmel and aproximately an hour-and-a-half to San Francisco. In addition, Lake Tahoe is only four hours away and Calistoga and the Napa wine country are approximately a three-hour drive. Wooded mountains, a spectacular coastline and accessible beaches surround Santa Cruz. Santa Cruz is also a part of the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary and offers fantastic opportunities for scuba diving, skin diving, sea kayaking, sailing and surfing. The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk offers the only major seaside amusement park on the entire West Coast. 2. Other useful sources: The Santa Cruz Sentinel Newspaper: The Santa Cruz Sentinel is the Santa Cruz County local newspaper. The classified section of the paper advertises apartments, homes and rooms for rent. For information, contact the Sentinel at (831) 423-4242. The Cabrillo College Office of Student Affairs Housing information board. The Student Affairs Office maintains a housing board in Building 900 where students, staff and faculty may post available rentals.
