Counseling & Educational Support Services Division (C&ESS)

The Counseling & Educational Support Services Division (CESS) is at the heart of the college's services that support you in your educational pursuits. We are members of your "success team."

The Counseling & Educational Support Services is the home of the Student Success & Support Program (formerly Matriculation) - your partner in getting you efficiently into college and successfully out of college with a degree, certificate and/or a transfer to a university.

Our services help you answer the following questions:

Q: "What do I want to accomplish at Cabrillo? Do I want an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree? Do I want a career/occupational certificate?"
A: This is called your Educational Goal.

Q: "How do I know what to study - my major?"
A: This is called your Course of Study. There are classes, workshops, and sessions with counselors that help you narrow your focus.

Q: "How do I choose the correct classes for my major/course of study? Which electives and courses are needed?"
A: An Education Planning Workshop, and an Abbreviated Education Plan will get you started. A Comprehensive Education Plan designed with a counselor will lay out your road map.

Q: "Are there new rules for taking classes?"
A: Your ability to repeat classes is now limited to 3 times! Financial Aid has different and sometimes even more restrictions. Become informed!

Q: "How do I get answers to questions as issues come up?"
A: Use the Cabrillo web page. See Admissions, Financial Aid, and Counseling web pages and spend time going through the department web page for your major/certificate/degree.
