I've been tutoring, teaching, and managing the Math Learning Center at Cabrillo College for many years and discovered the best way to help students is to help them help themselves. Providing a comfortable learning environment and the resources offered at the MLC is helpful in achieving this end result. In my mind: There is no "math gene" that one must have to be successful in math. Math is challenging for everyone... otherwise there would be no unsolved problems. Anyone who says math is easy should be out there providing solutions to these problems. The differences in learning math result from how these challenges are faced. |
