Making the Most out of High School

Getting high school credit for a Cabrillo class:

This is called Concurrent Enrollment, and you need to have permission from your high school to attend Cabrillo - Check with your high school counselor.

Science courses: If the course is NOT OFFERED at your high school. (Click here for the list that will satisfy the D Requirement for UC admission.

Math courses numbered 100 or less: (no 200 level courses allowphoto overlooking campused for students in high school) For questions about math placement, see Determing Math Placement at Cabrillo.pdf

Foreign Language courses: If NOT OFFERED at your high school. See Concurrent Enrollment for a list of the courses available and appropriate for high school students.

Articulated Credit - Getting college credit for a class taken at the high school:

Some classes at the high school, including many ROP courses have been linked by your instructors and Cabrillo instructors.  You take the course at your high school and if eligible, can receive Cabrillo College credit. See Currently Articulated Courses by high school.

How to get Cabrillo credit for an Articulated course:

Future Cabrillo Students: If the course you took in high school was an articulated ROP course, AND you are enrolling at/attending Cabrillo College after high school, the college credit can be awarded to you in the Fall semester after your high school graduation. Submit the following form to the Articulation Office (address below) AFTER classes have begun in the Fall. (See the link to Running Start for admission application instructions.)

Current high school Junior, Sophomore or Freshmanthat have taken an articulated ROP course or a keyboarding course at the high school that is articulated to Cabrillo (usually taken as a high school freshman), you may request the credit at any time.  Complete steps 1, 2, 3 (only for AB540 students), 4 & 5 and submit appropriate forms to Articulation Office. 

Note: many students wait until they graduate high school and come to Cabrillo to request this credit.

  2. High School Release Form - required if requesting credit while still in high school.  Form must be signed by your parent, yourself and your h.s. administrator/counselor
  3. AB540 Exemption Request Form - only submit this form, if your are a nonresident and want to request a nonresident tuition exemption

  5. Cabrillo Official Transcript Request

IMPORTANT-Check WebAdvisor prior to placing your transcript request. It is your responsibility to be sure grade for articulated course has posted PRIOR to placing your order.

 

Students not Planning to Attend Cabrillo: If you are planning to attend another college or university after high school, you must apply at Cabrillo in order for the articulated credit to be awarded to you on an official Cabrillo transcript. We cannot award you credit unless we have your application on file. Submit the following forms to the Articulation Office (address below):
