Counseling Accomplishments
• Provided 389 business owners with one-on-one counseling for a total of 2,449 counseling hours.
• Provided counseling in the areas of: start-up and planning 38%, marketing & sales 19%, financing & loan acquisition 15%, accounting 17%, technology computers 1%, other 12%.
• Provided Business Start-Up Packets to over 950 Santa Cruz & Monterey County potential business owners.

Training Accomplishments
• Offered a total of 94 small business courses and SBDC workshops throughout the County--attended by 1359 business owners.
• Developed and presented CDBG funded seminar series for low-income entrepreneurs.
• Collaborated with other agencies to receive the Wells Fargo Technical Assistance grant to train childcare providers and low-income minority business owners.

Economic Impact - Loans
• Provided 60 local businesses with loan acquisition assistance resulting in $7,349,464 in funding.
• SBDC Clients received loans through Conventional financing, SBA Guaranteed, SBA Micro-Loans, County of Monterey Revolving Loans, Childcare Facility Loans from the County of Santa Cruz and other programs |
Economic Impact- Jobs
• With the help of SBDC counseling, 175 jobs were created locally.
• The SBDC documented helping local busiensses retain 101 jobs.

• Assisted 7 local businesses to become 8A and SDB Certified, qualifying them to sell to local, state, and federal governments.

• Actively assisted 98 clients to accomplish business goals including: planning and starting their business, creating and retaining jobs, increasing sales and e-commerce success, obtaining loans, financial analysis, buying businesses, implementing bookkeeping systems, hiring employees and turnaround strategies
Relationship Building
• The SBDC enthusiastically collaborated with over 45 local, state and national organizations to assist in local Economic Development by providing workshops, training, and counseling and by participating on various committees. SBDC staff served on the Board of Directors for the Employer Advisory Council, El Pajaro Community Development Corporation, ChildCare Ventures, Santa Cruz Chamber of Commerce, CalCoastal RDC Loan Committee, Marina Business Incubator and Your Future Is Our Business. |
