Colliding Images–Representation and Reality: Teaching Toward Proficiency Through Film
Members of the Foreign Language Department will work with Dr. Breiner-Sanders after the department meeting. With DVD segments and writing samples in English, Spanish, French, and other languages, she will demonstrate activities on various levels derived from specific films and from film as a contextual pedagogical construct. Dr. Breiner-Sanders has directed the Spanish summer school at Middlebury College, and has taught language courses as well as seminars on violence, human rights and colliding images in Latin America. She has conducted workshops throughout the country on proficiency-oriented instructional design. She is an ACTFL tester and trainer. Her current project is a book on Hispanic cinema and content-based instruction.
11:30AM-4:30PM
1094 & 1096
Dr. Karen Breiner-Sanders, Associate Professor Emerita, Spanish and Hispanic Studies, School of Foreign Service/Dept. of Spanish and Portuguese, Georgetown University
