In addition, new faculty will participate in a dialog about the opportunities and challenges at Cabrillo, including an increasingly diverse population of students, faculty and staff, and shrinking support from the state in the budgetary process. Our Gang Springs to Saratoga in the Fall
Our Gang will be visiting and walking about Hakone Gardens in Saratoga and/or Villa Montalvo in Saratoga. The “and/or” has to do with our ability to book a possible event at Hakone Gardens (for more info about Hakone see: www.hakone.com). E-mail paul.harvell@cabrillo.edu for more information. We’ll form up to leave in Parking Lot E as per normal. We’ll organize ride sharing before we head out. If you want to meet us in Saratoga instead of starting at Cabrillo, e-mail us for time and location to meet.

Teaching + Technology = Improved Student Success
Members of the Math Department will share how LectureScribe and a personal response system are used in the classroom and for distance education. Have you ever needed to make lectures available to your students but didn’t think a handout would do it justice? Then consider using LectureScribe. With LectureScribe students will be able to hear your voice and see what you have written on a virtual whiteboard. A few tablet PCs will be available to get hands on experience. We will demonstrate classroom use of a personal response system (PRS) to test students’ understanding of concepts and knowledge of subject matter with immediate feedback to the instructor. The PRS can be used in any subject where questions may be posed as True/False or multiple choice so it is applicable to instructors in most disciplines.
