FLEX WEEK Wrap Up
The Cabrillo College Staff Development Committee thanks all the wonderful presenters who made Flex Week (and Pre-Flex) a great professional development experience. If you have resources you would like to share from a workshop, please send them electronically to the TLC and we will post on the Staff Development website. For example, Claudine Wildman provided handouts from Helping Students Succeed with Social Service Supports. Remember to drop non-participating students from Blackboard.
In addition to dropping students in WebAdvisor, you must remove them from your Blackboard course. Go to the Control Panel > Users & Groups > Users > Remove users from course. This will delete any work the student has done.
Students in distance education courses are required to ‘attend’ class and participate just as if they were in a face-to-face course. Attendance is based on documentation from “regular effective contact.” Instructors establish guidelines for how much each lecture, reading assignment, discussion or project qualifies as a meeting during the course of a week or course learning module. Blackboard Shell Requests
The TLC processed 553 requests for fall 2013 course shells serving 9439 users! We need your help getting those requests in on time. I will continue to send email reminders but perhaps it would easier for some to remember when the new Schedule of Classes is available, that should be your cue to request shells for the following semester. Just an FYI, Blackboard training is required for ALL new instructor accounts. More detailed information...
Blackboard User Notifications
Postini has occasionally intercepted our messages regarding Blackboard. Because over 200 faculty use Blackboard, we prefer to send some messages just to those who have accounts. Please update your Postini settings to accept anything from firstname.lastname@example.org and/or Blackboard Admin.
