English 290 Orientation & 1st Assignment

As you know, English 290 is designed to suit your individual needs as a writer. While we get to know you early in your program, we ask that ALL students become familiar with the Cabrillo College campuses, processes, and resources, including Writing Center tutoring policies. We also ask that you organize your class & work schedules so that you can plan your weekly 290 visits to the lab.

As you complete various writing assignments, our tutoring staff will show you how to use this website and printed versions of the course material to help you plan, draft, and revise and edit your essays, letters, and other reports.

Getting Around Cabrillo

Aptos
You will notice a good amount of construction going on at the Aptos campus thanks to recent community bond measures. As new structures like the Student Services Center and Theater complex are built, the physical layout of the campus will also change, which will cause some inconvenience when you are looking for offices and classrooms that have moved, either temporarily or permanently. Don't give up looking! Ask anyone around you--teachers, other students, office staff--and they'll be happy to direct you to where you're going.

Watsonville
The Watsonville campus has recently grown to double its former size and houses some of Cabrillo's most modern and high-tech classrooms and labs. Don't miss the chance to attend class or another event at the new Watsonville Center.
