Minutes from 11/21/05 accepted

Teresa Pool brought before the committee a proposal to add Sociology 8 to area D for the associates degree and CSU and area 4 IGETC. A motion was made to add the course, seconded and passed.

Teresa Pool brought before the committee a request for the inclusion of Sociology 1 in the multicultural studies list. There were concerns that the course outline did not reflect sufficiently the multicultural aspect of the course. A motion was made to deny the petition, seconded and passed.

Teresa Pool brought before the committee a request for the inclusion of Sociology 8 in the multicultural studies list. A motion was made to add Sociology 8 to the multicultural list. A motion was made, seconded and passed.

Items from the floor

Gloria Garing and Mary Ellen Sullivan brought an information item to the committee. They were concerned that the multiple degree policy as written has loopholes in it that need to be addressed. Specifically, a student can now transfer from another community college with a degree, earn 12 units at Cabrillo College of which only a few are part of the requirements for a degree at Cabrillo and get a Cabrillo degree.
