A student brought forth a petition to take 31 units. After a long discussion it was decided to deny the petition. A motion was then made to allow the student a maximum of 23 units as currrently stated in the catalog. The student was currently enrolled in 26 units and requesting an additional 5 units. The student was allowed to enroll in the 26 units because the large number of units was not detected by the computer when he registered. It was discovered when an AR technician noticed the large number of units when the student went to add the additional 5 units. It was the decision of the committee that the student would be allowed to only enroll in 23 units. The student was instructed to drop a minimum of 3 units and recommended to make an appointment with a counselor (30 minute, not drop in). As a result of this case, Tama was going to investigate if computer enforcement was possible and if so to have it implemented.

Tama wanted clarification on the academic renewal policy. Specifically, are newly earned substandard grades used in the GPA calculation to determine eligibilty for academic renewal. The council agreed that they were to be used in the calculation.
