"I encourage students with disabilities, including "invisible" disabilities, to explain their needs and appropriate accommodations to me. Please bring a verification of your disability from Cabrillo’s Disabled Student Services Office or the Learning Skills Program (for students with learning disabilities) and a counselor or specialist’s recommendations for accommodating your needs."

Statement of Ethics, Rights & Responsibilities
We Believe That...

...each student has the right to learn;

...each instructor has the right to teach

What I Expect From You:

Attend class and be on time. Be prepared to learn. If you must be late, enter quietly.

Stay for the full class period. Please do not begin shuffling books, making noise, or begin packing and fidgeting 10 minutes before class is over.

If you must leave early do so quietly and unobtrusively.

Do all required assignments and turn them in on time. Late work is generally not accepted. Read and review your course syllabus. Please don’t make excuses and don’t hold others responsible for your actions or failure to act. Please give explanations only if asked.

Listen while others are speaking

Treat classmates, visitors and your instructor with respect; be courteous and cooperative in all matters.

Be responsible for your own learning. Do assignments, bring appropriate materials, be timely, work alone or in groups as required, study and apply yourself. If you miss class, you are responsible for material covered. Please arrange with classmates to get any notes or handouts.

What You Can Expect From Me:

I will begin and end on time and come prepared.

I am not accessible right before class begins. This is my setup and preparation time.

I will be accessible by phone, e-mail, and in person during schedule office hours.

I respect that you are seeking education and will assume you are here because you want to be.

I will not embarrass you or single you out in class.

I will not tolerate bigotry, racism, sexism, culturism, ageism, lifestylism, or religious intolerance.

I will not tolerate cheating in any form. This includes copying someone else’s work, looking at someone’s paper during exams or quizzes, using any materials not allowed, representing someone else’s work as your own, and so on. Nor will I tolerate disruptive behavior. I will initiate one or more of the disciplinary actions as follows according to the Cabrillo College policy as outlined in your Student Rights & Responsibilities Handbook:

  • issue an oral or written warning
  • issue a failing grade for an assignment
  • issue a failing grade for the course
  • drop you
  • refer you to the Dean of Student services for action before you may return to class
  • suspend you
  • escort you from the classroom

If you cannot abide by these classroom expectations, please withdraw from the class
