Bus 189 Project Plan
Project - Create a course home page for BUS 189, Starting & Operating an eCommerce Business, for online course delivery. Include 1) the Home Page, 2) a Weekly Session Template, 3) a Weekly Worksheet Template, and 4) a Course Syllabus

How you will complete your online course?

How your course will be managed? Will you use course management software or other tools?

I will build the course by creating the site plan as a storyboard, 
  • first using Post-It notes on butcher paper,
  • then making a written content map for each page and
  • building an interactive prototype of the site in Dreamweaver and coding with HTML.

I will set up interactivity as follows:

  • Email - Free Email using Hotmail and requiring students to use this for anonymity rather than their current personal email accounts
  • Listserv - groups.yahoo
  • Bulletin Board - groups.yahoo
  • Chat - groups.yahoo if at all
  • Online Quizzes - Quia
  • Forms - HTML and mailto using a service to be identified

Web Hosting will be on the Cabrillo Server, which does not support Microsoft FrontPage extensions, making database integration a programming issue or manual

Class Web space - provided by Cruzio
 
Plan for formative evaluation. - I will follow Jakob Nielsen's notion of 5 x 5 testing. I'll test with five users, which should reveal 50-75% of the sites problems. Correct, then retest with five new users to uncover 70%+ of the remaining, solvable problems. (See "Why You Only Need to Test With Five Users" by Jakob Nielsen)

I will focus on the following in testing:
  • navigation
  • intuitiveness
  • finding expected information
  • aesthetics
  • Quality of Web Architecture - usability, broken links, orphan pages, fix screen, no scrolling, etc.
  • Accessibility
  • Browser compatibility and equipment compatibility
