Download and Install Sea Monkey all-in-one- Application Suite (For Composer)

Sea Monkey Application Suite: Free Download - is an all-in-one application suite that includes the browser Sea Monkey), an email client (Thunderbird) and Composer , the WYSIWYG html authoring tool you may need for this class.

WYSIWYG Editors like Composer - aka HTML authoring tools, allow you to create the Web Page on screen in a visual way while the Editor software writes the HTML code for you in the background. (WYSIWYG stands for "What You See Is What You Get.")

Directions - Download Sea Monkey and install it on your computer at home where you plan do do your coursework.

Note: You do not have to make the Sea Monkey browser your default browser. You can use Firefox (another free download), Internet Explorer (already on pc's) or any browser you prefer.

Download and Install Core FTP (for PCs)

Core FTP - Free Download - FTP (file transfer protocol), is used for uploading and downloading files without opening them and reading them. FTP software allows you to view and manipulate the file directory for your website on your computer (the client machine) AND the file directory on the server that hosts your website.

Each FTP program has its own on screen interface, some more intuitive and user-friendly than others. We will use CORE Ftp. Others include Fetch for the Mac and WS Ftp, a popular paid for software.

Directions - Download Core FTP and install it on your computer at home where you plan do do your coursework.

Turn in Directions - Open Blackboard and do the following:

1. In the Blackboard window, briefly describe your experience, at least 100 words, describing your experience with downloading each software and installing it.
2.
If you are going to create a home page without using Composer and get your files uploaded to the server in somne other way, please explain.
