Using Promotional Materials

Promotional Products are a $17 billion industry. There are hundreds of thousands of products that can be used promote your compnay and brand names. They are ususally emblazoned with your name and/or logo. Examples include:

  • pens
  • mugs
  • t-shirts
  • mouse pads
  • magnets
  • calendars
  • calculators
  • pet-food scoops
  • seed packets
  • golf balls & tees
  • frisbees
  • spatulas
  • dental floss
  • tape measures
  • letter openers
  • Snow Globes

The best seller is apparel - t-shirts, hats, visors, etc., comprising 27% of the market. Second are writing and third are calendars. However, your product choice will depend upon your particular business, its products/services and your customers or advertising target audience. A frisbee would work well for beach or surf products but not so well for a tuxedo shop and even less well for a funeral home.

Some considerations when choosing promotional products include:

  • How many to order and quantity discounts
  • Will you give them out selectively or as a blanket distribution (i.e. to a neighborhood, by mail, to a selected manager in an organization or its entire staff)
  • quality of the products (pens that leak all over a shirt)
  • no more mouse pasd...please!
