Attendance/Participation -
Attendance/Participation is required. There are 16 meetings including the Final
Exam meeting. You may be dropped as a no show the first week
of classes. If you miss more
than
2 weeks
of
class
sessions
(2
meetings)
you may be dropped. However, it is the student's responsibility
to drop a course. You receive points for attendance. You
cannot pass the course with less than 70% attendance! (at least 11 of
15 class days, not counting the final.)
Attendance/Participation: (See page 30-31) This course requires active
participation each day of class so it is important for you to attend
every class
session, arrive on time, and come prepared. Your participation not
only enhances your own learning, it benefits other students in the
class, especially when the class is doing group work. Your level
of participation is reflected in your grade and since you can’t
participate if you are not in class, absences will also be reflected
in your grade.
Note: There
are no "make-ups" for missed days.
Assessments -
aka Online quizzes, are given onscreen via Blackboard for
each of the 14 chapters in your textbook. Each Quiz consists of 25
questions. There will be a 25-point quiz for each chapter in the
textbook. These quizzes will consist of 25 objective questions @
1 point/question.
You will have 3 attempts and the best score of the 3 will count.
The questions will be based on the material contained within the
chapters
and the
chapter
Spotlights
in the Computers
Are Your Future, Complete text.
It is suggested that you go to the Publisher's
Website, select the chapter you are reading, and
complete the online study guide before you take the quiz on Blackboard.
Thirteen quizzes are required. If you take all 14 quizzes, one will be considered "extra credit".
Note: There
are no "make-ups" for
missed quizzes. Extra Credit may be available.
Assignments -
The Microsoft Office Professional Version will be used for assignments.
You will do them as computer files and must submit these assignments
electronically via Blackboard. There are 4 Assignment sets:
- Word
processing (Word)
- Spreadsheets
(Excel)
- Database
(Access)
- Presentation
graphics (PowerPoint)
NOTE
1 : These are REQUIRED assignments;
you cannot pass the course without turning them in regardless
of total points earned from other coursework.
Note: Late
assignments will be 10 points off. Extra Credit may be
available.

Discussion topics require you to pick two options
under Coursework at my website and then post
each as a separate post on Blackboard. You will also respond
to two postings from your classmates. For
full credit, your original posts should be at least 250 words and
responses 150 words. All must be thorough,
logical and posted on time.
NOTE

of total points earned from other coursework.

available.
Late

and Assignments are marked as "Late" after the due date. A penalty of 10 points is applied one week after
the Due Date. (a "grace" period).
They are expected to be accurate and thoroughly completed.
Note: All
CourseWork must be submitted by by the end of your Final Exam
meeting.
Learning
Modules - in Blackboard
list each weeks activities and Coursework Due Dates and Late
Dates. You must view them weekly and stay on pace. Print copy.

to get xtra credit points. They are noted on the CourseWork page.
Others may be added.
Withdrawal
policy -
You may withdraw from the course with a W grade until 75%
of the semester
has elapsed. You can drop using WebAdvisor. Contact
