Astronomy & Geology 27 Field Trip Course Registration

IMPORTANT: The sign-up date for the Pinnacles Fall 2008 session is Tuesday September 2nd at 5:30 in room 705. Students are advised to arrive at least 15 minutes early as the process will be "first come first serve".

Astro 27 / Geol 27 and Astro 28 & 30 require camping fees in order to register. These are similar to lab fees paid for most science lab classes. Dave Schwartz and Rick Nolthenius must pay for the campgrounds we stay at, usually with a long lead time. Fees for Astro 27/Geo 27 Pinnacles class is held at a private campground and are $17. Astro 28W is usually at less expensive public campgrounds and the cost is $15.

The Registration Procedure

You CAN NOT sign-up for Geology or Astronomy 27 online or via Hawktalk. First, you must attend an orientation meeting on TUESDAY EVENING 9/2 at 5:30 in room 705. Rick Nolthenius and David Schwartz will give you a brief orientation about the course. Those students interested in enrolling will be given a voucher for payment for the required campground fees. Students can take the voucher to the Bookstore and make the $17 dollar payment. The Bookstore will stamp the voucher verifying payment. After students make the payment they must then give the voucher showing that payment has been made to Dave or Rick. The student will then be given an ADD SLIP to enroll in the course. Then the student processes the add slip and that's it, you're in.

IMPORTANT: The first 28 students to complete the ENTIRE process will be added to the course. If you pay your camp fees, then get an add slip from the instructor, you ARE NOT guaranteed to get enrolled in this course. ONLY THE 1ST 28 STUDENTS TO PROCESS THE ADD SLIP WILL BE ENROLLED. If you pay the fee but delay in the add process, the course may close and your seat will be given away to another student. If this happens, the college will reimburse your camp fees if you keep your receipt. So, get your camping fees paid right away and PROCESS THE ADD SLIP ASAP! If you have any questions, call or e-mail Dave Schwartz: 479-6495 or Rick Nolthenius: 479-6506.
