How this course will work:

The class will be taught online.  The final and the midterm will be on campus in person at Cabrillo College.  Students will submit work online and contact with the instructor will be made via e-mail and telephone.  The class activities will include: reading assignments from the book and homework questions on the readings, online reading and note taking, experiencing approximately 250 musical examples in audio and video format (mostly audio), and completion of the various assignments, midterm and final exams.

The course is designed to take around 3 hours of online time per week, plus the readings and homework.  The material is best absorbed over time.  The class is designed so that students will spend an even amount of time on coursework each week.  The course is broken down into units that will be opened up online at the beginning of every other week.  Students will have the entire 2 weeks to complete the sections.  There will be reading and written assignments due every two weeks in addition to online work.

Sections may not be made up and will disappear after being up for four weeks.  Late homework and assignments will not be accepted.

NOTE: The midterm and final will be taken at Cabrillo College on specific dates and times. Times and dates will be posted in advance of the course registration. Please check your schedule and plan ahead.  You must take the tests on these dates and times.
