Workshop 4
Beams and columns support the outside edge of the roof over the walkway outside room 715 and 835. Assume a total (live plus dead) roof load of 30 lbs per square foot.
1. Determine two models for analyzing the forces on one beam due to the roof load. Make your analysis on one of the beams other than the ones at the corners of the building.
2. Sketch each of
the models.
3. Calculate the
resultant force due to the roof load and its distance from one of the supports
for each model.
4. Compare the
results.
