"Just Turn It Off" Campaign

On Earth Day (Wednesday, April 22, 2009), between 12:00 and 1:00, Cabrillo College would like students, faculty, and members of the community to turn off as many as lights as they can. If you can turn off any other electricity, please do so also. Please spread the word around to everyone you know.

On an average school day, Cabrillo College uses
17,400 kWh of electricity which creates 6 tons of carbon
dioxide and costs around $2,000. You can help make a difference in reducing Cabrillo's campus-wide carbon footprint while saving money at the same time. Here are the results showing carbon emissions reduced and money saved during the hour we Turn It Off.

As you might know, Cabrillo College students are very active in helping the environment. Get involved and see a list of the many Earth Day Events happening in the weeks to come.

There are many things that you and others can do to help the environment. Please see Tools For Change for more information.

Beyond Cabrillo, Santa Cruz county has many Supporters working for a more sustainable community.
