Tuesdays: 11:10am-1:20pm Lecture

Tuesdays: 2:30pm-5:40pm Lab

 

Attendance Policy: Attend 13 of 16 class meetings

 

Class Objectives

1. Study plants suitable for Central California and include recent introductions into the nursery trade.

2. To encourage students to learn about plants outside the 100 we focus on and ask questions about any plant they encounter in the landscape in order to expand their knowledge.

3. To learn to combine plants that create attractive, environmentally sound and maintainable landscapes through doing a design project.

Class Assignments

Take Home Midterm consisting of short answer questions & plant identification flash cards.

Design Project: A planting design project chosen from 2 sites visited in class, with a base plan provided.

Take Home Final: Field identification of 50 plants studied. Takes place off campus.

Attendance 15%
Take home Midterm Experience 35%
Design Project or Research Project 35%
Take home Final experience 15%
TOTAL 100%

Credit/No Credit:
Attendance at 13 of 16 class meetings and completion of one major component - the take home midterm, or the design problem.
