Debate/Presentation Requirements I



Individual Report Requirements (25 pts):  Due by each group member on or before Debate Date (see syllabus). (Max 4 pages plus bibliography page). Group leader’s evaluation will figure into this report final grade.  This report will be submitted as an attached Word document under Assignments/Debate/Presentation

 

1-     State/discuss briefly Topic/issue

2-     Provide a summary analysis & reasoning of the “For” position. (Incorporate/reference research). Apply legal, ethical issues & business impact.

3-     Provide a summary analysis & reasoning of the “Against” position. (Incorporate/reference research). Apply legal, ethical issues, & business impact.

4-     Provide support for your group’s position on the issue. Support with critical legal/ethical arguments, research findings and analysis. Your Support must be comprehensive, detailed and has legal and/or ethical merit. (Incorporate research and book).

5-      Opinion/reflection in relation to topic/issue, research, and findings. (Educated reflection derived from your readings and findings).

6-     Bibliography/sources page. Three sources for each position, total of six sources minimum. Credible sources from approved list only.

 

Group Presentation Requirements  (50pts)

 

1-     Group meetings/preparation for the oral presentation (out of class). All group members must participate in the oral presentation.

2-     Presentation of topic/position within the specified times given. (Refer to Debate Instructions form). Must be concise with support & reference to class/book subjects and specifically correlating research with Business Law topics.

3-     Integration of technology, media, visual aids, etc to illustrate your position is required. Power point or other multimedia presentation is required as well as any other form of technology such video, dvd, internet, etc. Utilize available classroom technology.

4-     Legal & ethical applications/implications must be integrated into the debate. Important. Be specific and clear.

5-      Group must reference and document at least ten (10) sources/articles/references for their side and five (5) for the counter argument (other side). Documents must be organized, highlighted, copied and placed in a folder or submitted on Blackboard under your group link.. Must be submitted no later than one class meeting before the actual debate.

 

Judges (10 pts) – Serving as a judge and writing and completing an evaluation/decision form on the debate and topic.
