The West End Wharf and Wine Swim Club met for the traditional Sunday morning swim. A small group this moring: me, Kat, and Kate, with Michael Peck on paddle board to ride herd and capture the moments with his expert photography. It was a clean beautiful morning and the water was cold and clean. Perfect way to wake up.

Our happy team!

Still smiling, despite the 55F water temp

I adjust my goggles, sandwiched between my swim cap and my neoprene undercap

On the way out.

Water was nippy enough that I wanted to keep up a good pace

At the end of the wharf, the seals were "waving" to us with their fins. Very friendly!

Sandwiched between the girls, I (and Kate and Kat) do our best sea otter imitation

Time to swim back in, to the Cocoanut Grove beach front

I wait for the right moment to get through the surf zone

Looking back at Kate, Kat, and Michael

Felt great! I tested out the new showers to get the sand out. I had my running outfit on under my wetsuit, and got in another mile of running before getting home. The day was just beginning; minutes later I was out the door heading to Nicene Marks State Park to join TrailWorkers, who were building the seasonal bridges across Aptos Creek inside the Park. And later, a workparty at Cabrillo Observatory, and then to an art exhibition featuring my student assistant's fine work.
