The Phocaea Occultation

Sept 23, 2017

This is a decently ranked event with a bright 10.2 asteroid and a faint 12.5 star, giving a drop of only 0.17 magnitude. I don't think I've yet tried an event with such a small drop. Will require integrating long enough to have a 12.5 star continually visible for the S/N to permit an event detection. Looks like a good list of observers as this moves steeply from northwest to southeast. Odds are 73% of a "hit" at Cabrillo Observatory, at 1:29am on Saturday morning.
