Project Experience
*
Wrote the RPHOT software package, which controls data acquisition (via
I/O port communications written in assembler) and astronomical
reductions
for BVRI single-channel photometers built by Optec,
Inc. Distributed commercially by Optec for their photometers.
*
Systems administration for the seven Intel-based computers of the Cabrillo
Observatory and Cabrillo Astronomy Department. Operating systems;
Win95, DOS, and Linux.
*
Planned and led construction of Cabrillo
College Observatory. Includes: 12" Meade LX200
computer controlled Schmidt-Cass telescope, SBIG ST-7e CCD camera,
SBIG CFW8 filter wheel with Johnson BVRI filters, JMI Crayford
focuser, IR sensor-controlled dome, and two desktop Windows computers
for telescope control and for image acquisition, display, and reduction.
Also built Cabrillo Observatory photometry
station, with computer controlled single channel photometry of
variable stars and occultation phenomena.
*
Programming environments: Fortran, Windows, Unix, Linux, some assembler.
*
Image-related software: Mira A/P, Photoshop, Registax, CCDOPS, MaxIM/DL,
Dreamweaver MX.
*
Part of UCSC Physics research group studying mixed dark matter models,
and produced visualizations of large numerical simulations of
the large scale structure of the universe.
