    Store your bookmarks on the Web at Bookmarkbox.com.  Your bookmarks are then accessible from any computer with Internet access.  You can also share your bookmarks with others (suppose you and a buddy had a hobby in common and wanted to share specialized Web resources?)  Directions for Bookmarkbox.com

    Message Boards  Create your own!   What's a message board good for?  Suppose your far-flung family were planning a big  reunion.  Everyone can post to the same message board ("Aunt Alice says she's bringing all her old photos!  Let's all bring some to share.")  You can get free message boards here:  BeSeen.com  and  InsideTheWeb.com

    More on Search Engines
    None of the search engines covers all of the Internet or the Web. 
    Two new major search engines: FAST Search and Google! 
     

    Some sample searches
     
    AltaVista Simple whale sharks Belize 74,025 If you don't indicate how to handle the words, AltaVista Simple returns Web pages that have any of the words.  Tries to rank the most relevant ones on top.
    AltaVista Simple +"whale shark" +Belize 102 Put phrases in quotation marks.  The plus (+) in front of a term requires it in the search result. 
    AltaVista Advanced "whale shark*" NEAR Belize 29 An asterisk (*) searches for any word beginning with those letters.  NEAR means within 10 words of each other.  Use AND to have the terms on the same page.
    Excite "whale shark*" AND Belize 50 Phrases go in quotation marks.  Use asterisk (*) for word stems.  Find a really good site?  Return to the results list and click on Search for more documents like this one.
    FAST Search +"whale shark*" +Belize 133 Put phrases in quotation marks.  The plus (+) in front of a term (no space) requires it in the search result.
    Google! "whale shark*" Belize 147 Words are automatically ANDed together.  In the results list, sites are ranked higher according to how frequently they are referenced on the Web.
    HotBot "whale shark" AND Belize 81 Have to change the option box to  
    Click on More Search Options to explore ways you can limit searches, e.g., to audio or video files, to specific countries, etc.
    Infoseek Belize|"whale shark*" 102 Use the pipe key ( |; it's near the Backspace key) to simulate a Boolean search.
    Northern Light "whale shark*" AND Belize 244 Try clicking on Power Search (at top of screen) and then in box next to  Sort results by date (you'll have most recent on top). Click to limit your search to the World Wide Web.  Results are sorted into folders for you -- a very useful feature!
