I was born and raised in Kabul, Afghanistan. I moved to this country in 1978 and have lived in Santa Cruz since 1980. I learned English as a Second Language and thus have a special appreciation for the difficulties ESL students face in learning the language and adapting to a new culture. My life has been very enriched by working with students of many different cultures from around the world. Because of my interest in learning about different cultures, I travel whenever I can and have been to many places around the world, (but still have a long list yet to visit!).
