CIS - Testimonials

The program is fantastic! I do work in the field and the skills I learned in the CIS curriculum have helped tremendously!
-Ana

The education I got from the CIS program at Cabrillo was amazing. I was actually hired by Cisco before I even finished my degree. Now I’m a customer support engineer, and I love my job.
-Paul

I was one of the original students in the Microcomputer Management program in 1992-1994. Upon graduation, I got a job in San Jose working for a real estate MLS.
Throughout my 20+ year IT career I have pursued additional training and certifications, both at the community college(s) and from other sources.
As recently as 2012, I took a couple of courses at Cabrillo College as part of a Staff Development Leave. These courses (Advanced Cisco Routing and Introduction to VMware), helped me to obtain a promotion at my current employer, another community college.

I don't know if it's possible for me to speak highly enough of the faculty in Cabrillo College's CIS department.
I spent almost 5 years of my life pursuing ~90 units of CIS and Communications credits at Cabrillo and I wouldn't trade that experience for anything. I've gained knowledge that has lead very successfully to a career in the field I wanted to be in when I started. I currently work as a Desktop Support Technician/Jr Systems Administrator at a major University and absolutely love going to work every day. I can't praise the faculty in CIS at Cabrillo enough for their patience, drive, support, and ultimately friendship in many cases. These people sincerely want you to succeed and do their absolute best to provide you with the opportunity to do so.
I was not even a particularly amazing student due to some really heavy stuff going on in my life at the time I was attending, and I still feel that I was given more than enough tools and experience to make it in the field of CNSA/IT/Networking/Computer Science.
10 out of 10! If I had to start all over again, I would do it exactly the same way again in a heartbeat.
Particular mentions, these are the people that made the most difference for me personally in CIS at Cabrillo.
Gerlinde Brady, Rick Graziani, Marcelo Nogueira, Gary Rollinson. Thank you all so much for everything you've done for me.
-Tommy

I'm really happy I continued my education at Cabrillo and learned system administration and networking skills.  My work background and BA are in audio/video production.  Although it didn't help me much in my job at the time, I really wanted to get into this field, and the wide breadth of curriculum helped me get a solid base education in the field.  An opportunity finally came that I could use all of my knowledge and training, and it helped me stand out as a strong candidate.  This position was a hybrid of my past work and networking, so I was able to 'speak the same language' with the network and SRE teams I was working with daily.  These skills have become priceless and allowed me to advance my career beyond my dreams.  Thanks for a great experience!
- Evan
