Plan for Success

Use this list will to stay on track with important deadlines for the semester.

Get ahead! Summer and Fall registration opens at the same time. If you have applied for summer, you are eligible to register for fall at the same time. Before registration opens, use self-service Student Planning to plan your courses, select your sections to build your schedule for both terms at the same time.   

Important Note: Summer Session consists several sessions of SHORT TERM CLASSES. Dates and deadlines for short term courses will vary depending on the start date of the class. For example, course fees will be reversed only if you have officially withdrawn by 10% of the class meetings. This deadline is often the first day the class meets. For dates specific to your class, please connect with your instructor and refer to your class syllabus.

    Summer 2021 Application Open

    Applications for Summer 2021 admissions open and being accepted.

    2021 Financial Aid Application Open

    Financial Aid application is open and being accepted

  • October 2020 - April 9, 2021
    Earn an Earlier Registration Date

    All students have the opportunity to earn an earlier registration date by completing these activities:

    ProTip: your registration will not be blocked if these activities are not completed; you will be assigned a later registration date.

  • March 2, 2021
    Due Date: submit FAFSA for priority review.

    Applications submitted by this date will be reviewed and these students notified first.  

    Miss this date? No problem, apply now to see what aid is available. It’s never too late to apply!

  • March 27, 2021
    Due Date: submit transcripts and/or AP, IB and CLEP scores to use to complete placement activities.

    Miss this date? No worries! Submit your documents as you need to at any time. Allow ten (10) business for processing.

    ProTip: a quicker way complete placement is to submit the placement eForm.

  • April 9, 2021
    Due Date: complete activities to earn an earlier registration date.

    Complete placement, submit the orientation eForm, and plan some classes to earn an earlier registration date. 

    Miss this date? Not a problem! You will not be blocked from registering. Keep going - your registration date will be in mid-May as a NEW student. Registration is open all summer.

    Registration Opens for Continuing Students

    Students designated in these programs: Calworks, ASC, EOPS, WIOWA, Guardian Scholars and Veterans who had completed placement, submitted the orientation eForm, and planned some courses by April 9.

  • May 10, 2021
    Registration Opens for Continuing Students

    Students designated in a Collegiate Athletic Program (aka: student athletes) who had completed placement, submitted the orientation eForm, and planned some courses by April 9.

    Registration Opens for Continuing Students with 30+ units

    Students with sophomore status who had completed placement, submitted the orientation eForm, and planned some courses by April 9.

    Registration Opens for Applicants Within the Past Year

    Students NEW to Cabrillo who who did not enroll in the previous term but had completed placement, submitted the orientation eForm, and planned some courses by April 9.

  • May 24, 2021
    Registration Opens for Continuing Students

     Current students who had not yet completed placement, submitted the orientation eForm, and planned some courses by April 9.

  • May 25, 2021
    Registration Opens for Dual Enrolled High School Students

    Current high school students taking classes at Cabrillo who had completed placement, submitted the orientation eForm, and planned some courses by April 9.

  • May 25, 2021
    Registration Opens for Continuing Students

    Students with more than 100 degree applicable units, except those students enrolled in designated high unit majors

    Summer 2021 Begins

    Summer session includes multiple sessions ranging from 4-8 weeks long. Start and end dates for each class vary. See the Schedule of Classes and connect with your instructor to make sure you know when your class starts and ends.

    ProTip: this also means that all deadlines to add, drop, withdraw, request Pass|No-pass, etc...will also vary depending on the start date and the number of weeks the class meets.

  • June 14
    Add|Drop period starts

    Please connect with your instructor and review your course syllabus for detailed information about deadlines to add and drop.

    Here's what you need to do:

    • To add a class section during the Add|Drop period, go to the first class meeting or email the instructor to ask for an add authorization. Once you have authorization from the instructor, register through Student Planning.
    • To drop a class during the Add|Drop period go to Student Planning.

    Deadline to Add

    Typically this is the first day the class meets. Please connect with your instructor and review your course syllabus for detailed information about deadlines to add. You must use add authorizations by this day or you will no longer be able to register for the class.

    Deadline to drop for a refund

    Typically this is the first day the class meets. Please connect with your instructor and review your course syllabus for detailed information about deadlines to drop. Last day to drop a section and receive a reversal of charges or refund of enrollment or transportation fees. (No exceptions!)

  • Dates Vary Depending on Class Start Date
    Withdrawal Deadline

    Typically this is the first day the class meets. Please connect with your instructor and review your course syllabus for detailed information about deadlines to drop. Last day to drop a class without a "W" being notated on your academic record. You will still be charged for the all units.

    Census Deadline

    Please connect with your instructor and review your course syllabus for detailed information about the Census Deadline. Make sure you're registered in your classes and showing on the class rosters because your Financial Aid award will not adjusted after this date. Critical for financial aid recipients who have dropped all classes on or before this date. See Financial Aid for more information about enrollment changes, over payment and repayment .

    Deadline to Request Pass|No-Pass

    Please connect with your instructor and review your course syllabus for detailed information about deadlines to request Pass|No-Pass. Last day to request Pass|No-pass option. See your instructor for more information. Please note: per California education code: the decision to choose Pass|No-pass is final and may not be made, or changed, after this deadline.

  • Dates Vary Depending on Class Start Date
    Deadline to Withdraw for a "W"

    Please connect with your instructor and review your course syllabus for detailed information about deadlines to withdraw from your class. A grade of "W" will appear on your transcript. If you remain enrolled in a section after this date you will receive a letter grade.
