Several Cabrillo donors have elected to take advantage of naming opportunities that come with significantly large gifts. Cabrillo is currently engaged in renovation and construction of facilities, which presents new options for naming a building, classroom or other space for a donor or someone the donor chooses to honor. For more information about naming opportunities, please contact Eileen Hill at (831) 479-6338 or via email: Eileen Hill.
Hundreds of Cabrillo College supporters and campus leaders gathered in October 2009 for the inauguration of the Richard and Theresa Crocker Theater, a landmark building in the new Visual & Performing Arts Complex that heralds a modern era of artistry, craft, and performance. The black and white gala event celebrated the creativity and perseverance of a community dedicated to the arts, as well as the generosity of alumni Richard and Theresa Crocker, whose $1 million donation provides support for the stunning new facilities.
“We both feel very connected to Cabrillo College,” said Richard Crocker, who attended the college in its early years when classes took place in modest modular facilities on the former Watsonville High School campus. He was a young father supporting his family and trying to get an education – an effort only possible, he said, because of the proximity and ease of having a great college in his backyard. Crocker went on to earn a business degree from San Jose State University and launched several successful entrepreneurial ventures. “The fact that I could attend Cabrillo College gave me the opportunity to be who I am today.”
