Cabrillo Gallery’s annual 12 x 12 Open Invitational celebrates our diverse creative community of artists. For this very popular exhibition, we open our doors and our wall space to all California artists, at any point in their career, offering a truly inclusive arena for creative individuals to express their unique vision, each through their chosen artistic discipline and media.

Cabrillo Gallery invites you to submit your work for this annual fundraiser. All entries will be accepted, providing they are 12" x 12" (and no more than 12" deep)—not bigger, not smaller—and follow the rules of entry. Three awards will be selected by popular vote. Each and every artist who participates in our 12 x 12 fundraiser lends their support to us by contributing to a much-needed funding resource for our gallery. These contributions help us provide the kind of high-quality exhibitions and educational programming we are proud to offer to our community year after year. We would like to extend our extreme gratitude to all who have generously participated in the 12 x 12 exhibition this year and in past years. We can't begin to tell you how much your whole-hearted support through the years means to us.

Guidelines + Rules of Entry

• Entry fee – $20.00 for each entry, payable to the Cabrillo Gallery. No limit to number of works entered.

• Artwork must be exactly 12.0" high x 12.0" wide (including framing)—no bigger, no smaller—and no more than 12.0" deep.

• If artwork is round or irregular in shape, it must still measure 12" horizontally and vertically at the widest points.

• Artwork must be wired or otherwise ready to hang with a secure hanging system

• A signed and completed application form must accompany each artwork

• Entrant must be a resident of California.

• Original work only, completed since 2020 and not previously shown at the Cabrillo Gallery.

• No accepted entry may be withdrawn before the close of the exhibition

• The gallery takes a 10% commission on any sales.
