Free Legal Immigration Services

FREE Immigration Legal Services
CAB's Santa Cruz Immigration Project & Cabrillo Collaboration

The purpose of the Community College Immigration Legal Services program is to provide free immigration legal services, including education and outreach services, to students, staff, and faculty on California community college campuses statewide.

The State of California’s 2018-19 Budget provided an initial $10 million investment for the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) to administer and implement immigration legal services at California community colleges. The initial investment allowed CDSS to fund nine legal service providers to serve 65 colleges. CDSS is partnering with the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office and the Foundation for California Community Colleges to ensure students, staff, and faculty at these colleges are able to access free immigration legal services. Cabrillo is honored to have been selected as one of the 65 colleges able to host CAB's Santa Cruz Immigration Project.

Teresita Estupinan, A.S. - Immigration Project Ambassador

I was born in Chihuahua, Mexico and immigrated to the United States when I was 21 years old. Education has always been my goal. In 2020, I graduated from Cabrillo College with an A.S. in Early Childhood Education(ECE). My career background has been connecting students and their families with resources. As a single parent, non-native speaker with an Immigrant background I recognize the barriers many of our families face. I am happy to share that as a Cabrillo student I received so much support in completing my goals and now I will have the opportunity to give back to my community. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my son, hiking, enjoying nature, riding bikes, and going out for a walk. If you have any questions please contact me at: teresitae@cabinc.org
