HSI Mural Project Forums
The mural will be created by & for students in the Fall 2023 class, ART 91 Public Art: Painting & Mural, under the expert guidance of special guest muralist & artist-in-residence Guillermo “Yermo” Aranda (Santa Cruz County’s 2021 Artist of the Year!), assisted by art associate faculty member Danielle Torvik-Staffen, the instructor of record.
Students of the class will jointly develop a mural concept, complete color studies using watercolors and/or acrylics, prepare a canvas, & paint the mural in VAPA 2020. The canvas will then be removed from the studio & remounted in place in the College cafeteria in Aptos.
Join the HSI Mural Project! Be part of creating Cabrillo College’s next mural, celebrating our status as an HSI (Hispanic Serving Institution)!
Guillermo “Yermo” Aranda (Santa Cruz County’s 2021 Artist of the Year) will host a community forum on the Aptos campus to explain more about this exciting project, & to dialog with the community to hear your ideas about what imagery you would like to see in the mural.
