Earth Week

The first Earth Day on April 22nd, 1970 mobilized 20 million American citizens, from all walks of life to demonstrate in favor of environmental reform. In the Cabrillo College and surrounding sustainability community, this celebration of environmental awareness and protection has grown into an entire week of events. Now observed in over 192 countries, help build into the largest secular holiday in the world and participate in events across Santa Cruz County!
Join Your Sustainability Council and accept the Zero Waste Week Challenge April 18-26:
- Replace single-use plastic items (such as drink bottles, sandwich baggies, snack bags, spork packs, etc.) with reusable alternatives
- Use cloth napkins instead of paper
- Step up your efforts, find the right bins for recycling paper, cans, bottles & for composting
- Replace single-use condiment packets with bulk dispensers
- Replace consider not using straws
- Power down your computers and other electronic devices when not in use
- Refuse products containing microbeads
