B.A. from University of Minnesota; M.A. & Ed.M. from Teachers College, Columbia University
With Cabrillo College since 1999

I have been teaching Music Theory Classes at Cabrillo since 2002 and still love every minute of it.

I have been teaching Fundamentals of Music in an online format since 2007. It is a rich and comprehensive exploration and discovery of the elements used to create music: notes, rhythms, scales, intervals, & chords. This class prepares you to succeed in the learning to play an instrumment, and continue with the four Levels of Music Theory and Musicianship classes at Cabrillo. Please check out my Home Page shown on the left to learn more about it.

I currently teach Musicianship 1M, the co-requisite course of Comprehensive Music Theory. It is an activities class based where we apply what you are learning in your Theory class into practice through Ear Training, Dictation & Sight Singing. My background in teaching online made it possible for me to quickly move all my course materials and activities online because of the Covid-19 pandemic. I successfully conducted all the class meetings in Zoom from March through May and am fully prepared to do so in the future until we can meet once again in the classroom.

In addition to teaching I am also the Coordinator for the Music and Theatre Arts Lab (VAPA 5131), a resource center for music and theatre students. We have 18 computer workstations, 15 Practice Rooms, 3 Recording Studios, Percussion Studio, and thousands of DVDs/Videos, CDs and books you can use to further your study. The Lab is staffed by professional musicians who can help you with your questions about music theory and other assorted aspects about music.
